Temba Bavuma was born on 17 May 1990, in Langa, Cape Province, South Africa. He is a right-handed batsman. 

Bavuma plays domestic cricket for Gauteng. He represented Lions, Cape Cobras, Durban Heats, and Jozi Stars in franchise league cricket.

International Career

Temba Bavuma made his South Africa national team debut in December 2014, in a Test match against West Indies. On 5 January 2016, Bavuma became the first black cricketer to score a Test century for South Africa, an unbeaten 102 runs against England at Cape Town.

The right-handed middle-order batter made his ODI debut for South Africa in September 2016, against Ireland. He became the second South African to score a century on an ODI debut. The South African made his T20I debut in September 2019, against India. He played in the 2021 T20 World Cup for his nation.

In March 2021, Bavuma was appointed as the captain of South Africa’s limited-overs side. He became the first black South African to captain his nation.
