Read on to discover more about Cunningham’s net worth, salary, family, and more.

High School Career

Born on the 25th of September 2021, from a young age, it seemed that Cunningham was destined for the very top.

A hugely talented player, Cunningham first played his High School basketball at Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas. After two successful years at Bowie, Cunningham was already projected to become a five-star college recruit.

He only cemented his potential further when he transferred to Montverde Academy. Located in Florida, Montverde was responsible for developing the talents of NBA stars such as Ben Simmons, D’Angelo Russel, and R.J Barrett.

Playing just one season for the Florida-based team, Cunningham helped Monteverde stay undefeated and was selected for McDonald’s prestigious All-American Game. He topped off a tremendous High School career by being a part of the USA squad that won the FIBA U19 World Cup.

Due to his fine displays in High School, Cunningham quickly became one of the most sought-after high school recruits and was pursued by many of America’s finest college programs.

College Career

Despite the attention of college basketball powerhouses Duke and Kentucky, Cunningham chose to attend Oklahoma State and in 2020 became the first five-star recruit to join the program since Marcus Smart back in 2012.

Displaying all the talents that made him look NBA-ready, his stay in college was always likely to be brief.

Playing just one season with the Sooners, Cunningham appeared in 27 games. His impact on the team was huge as he would average 20 points per game. Recognized as the best Freshman in college, he would win the Wayman Tisdale Award and achieve All American Honors.

With many expecting Cunningham to forego his college eligibility, Cunningham confirmed that he would be entering the 2021 NBA Draft.

NBA Career

After declaring himself eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft, Cunningham was made the first pick by the Detroit Pistons. He became the first Oklahoma player to be drafted in the first round since Marcus Smart in 2013.

He enjoyed a terrific first season, where he started 67 games and became the eighth youngest player in NBA history to record a triple double.

Further success would come, as he would be nominated for the 2022 Rookie of the Year, ultimately finishing third in the voting.

Cunningham’s second season would end early due to him needing an operation to repair a stress fracture in his left leg. It is expected that he will make a full return for the 2023/2024 season.

Despite Cunningham’s return, betting sites such as FanDuel sportsbook predict that the Pistons could be in for a tough season. Cunningham will be hoping to prove them wrong.
